Tell us a bit about your company…

Teal HR was founded in 2013 by Catherine Brace. With over 30 years of HR experience, Catherine partners with small to mid-size tech businesses to deliver professional, practical, and personalised support.

She possesses the know-how and confidence to guide SMEs through their HR journey. We are based in Brighton, but we work with clients in the Sussex area as well as remote.

What problem do you solve or what difference do you make for your clients?

We support SME’s in navigating the journey of HR whilst providing advice and support to suit their needs with cost-effective packages. We offer a personal approach in supporting businesses to succeed and are available to take on and manage people-issues.

How would you describe the culture within the business, and how does this contribute to its success?

The key element for Teal HR is to support and grow SMEs with an honest and supportive service. We are down to earth in our approach but also mindful that businesses are busy. We do what we can to support their success.

What are the top achievements and successes you’re most proud of?

The most recent would be supporting a local small business in becoming legally compliant with all their documentation whilst developing the ‘core values’ and bringing the team on board with the changes. The team is more passionate and energetic knowing what is expected of them, and the CEO wishes he had contacted Teal HR sooner.

Is there any other work you’re doing in the community that you’d like to share?

We are currently supporting Trust for Development Communities and Brighton Chamber of Commerce with supporting ethnically diverse communities back into the workplace. Recently, Teal HR supported the with job fairs and provided advice to job seekers, as well as committed to attending their future CV workshops.

Are there any upcoming projects, goals or ambitions that you are particularly excited about?

Supporting the community is fundamental to Teal HR whilst continuing to build and foster positive and collaborative relationships with businesses. We are very excited to have the opportunity to support Silicon Brighton and hope to have the opportunity to support more soon.

When did you first come across Silicon Brighton? What’s the relationship and how do you benefit?

A contact recommended Silicon Brighton to Teal HR as we have vast experience working in the Tech sector. The key benefits are meeting and supporting new clients and feeling a sense of achievement in helping companies grow and value their key asset, people!

Considering your involvement in Silicon Brighton and community-building, what does the concept of ‘community’ mean to you? How important is it for the tech industry?

Community is something Teal HR is passionate about and has a genuine interest in supporting the Silicon Brighton community. They are an asset in fostering positive and collaborative relationships.

Anything else you would like to promote to our community? (Hiring, socials, website)

Teal HR offer a FREE HR AUDIT – which enables SMEs to understand what key HR areas they may need to focus on. This normally is around policies, contracts of employment etc…We do not judge, as we know there are many balls to juggle for SMEs and appreciate HR is not always top of the to-do-list.

We are proud to be a BreatheHR partner, which is an amazing cloud-based HR platform that provides businesses (particularly small and medium) the ability to securely store employee data, holiday management, and more for super reasonable prices.

If you would like to discuss any support from Teal HR please feel free to contact Catherine at cb@teal-hr.com.
