Codebar is a charity that organises free coding workshops for people from groups underrepresented in tech, in a friendly, safe and supportive environment. Local companies host us and provide pizza, and local developers volunteer as coaches.

You can work through tutorials, or bring a personal project if you need help with that. Total beginners are very welcome – we can help you decide where to start your journey.

Workshops happen every other Tuesday. Doors open at 6:30pm for pizza and chat, while we pair up students and coaches. Then it’s coding in pairs from 7 till 9. Some of us also go for a drink afterwards, but that’s optional.

To join our community, create an account at github.com then sign up at codebar.io and join the Brighton chapter. Every fortnight, you’ll receive an email invite, so just reply when you want to attend. No commitment.
