Brighton Book Festival invites you to join us online as we travel the world to hear the stories of writers from across the globe.

Gathering writers from different continents. Listen in as our writers look at the differences and commonalities of writing around the world and how they get their stories to new audiences across continents.

Nigerian-American and based in Sweden, Lolá Ákínmádé Åkerström is a best-selling author, keynote speaker, and award-winning photographer. Her work has appeared in many newspapers and magazines. She is the author of Due North, bestselling LAGOM: Swedish Secret of Living Well, and novels In Every Mirror She’s Black and Everything is Not Enough. She has been recognized with multiple awards for her work, including being named a 2022 Hasselblad Heroine and receiving the 2018 Travel Photographer of the Year Bill Muster Award. She was honoured with a MIPAD 100 (Most Influential People of African Descent) Award within media and culture in 2018 and in 2021 with a Newsweek Future of Travel Storytelling Award. Nicolas Padamsee grew up in Essex. He holds an MA and PhD in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia, and was selected as an Observer best debut novelist. He splits his time between Norwich and Upton Park, London.
Guy Gunaratne is a British novelist, playwright and contemporary artist. Winner of the Dylan Thomas Prize, Jhalak Prize and longlisted for the Booker and Goldsmith’s Prize.
