SUMMARY:Brighton Cloud: Deploying Serverless Applications at Scale and Spee
 d!
DESCRIPTION:Why FundApps built a Continuous Deployment (CD) tool from scrat
ch to serve their SaaS platform needs\nIn 2021 deployments at FundApps t
ook hours\, even after the Continuous Integration (CI) part was complete.
As they scaled their product portfolio\, customer base and number of engin
eers\, things got even worse.\nIn order to meet their product development
needs\, something had to be done. They took a radical and risky decision a
nd built a tool from scratch to handle thousands of deployments daily\, wi
th huge parallelism requirements. Spoiler alert\, it paid off!\nIn this ta
lk\, Mike Hodgkins will talk about why FundApps took the approach they
did\, how it works\, and if there’s time\, talk about some of the surpr
ises and gotchas that popped up along the way.\nExpect to hear about the g
ood\, the bad and the ugly of AWS EventBridge and Step Functions!\nMike
was born and raised in Brighton and has over 15 years of experience work
ing in Tech across various industries. He has been a Staff and Infrastruct
ure Engineer at FundApps since July 2021.\nOur friends at Silicon Brigh
ton will again be providing the AV and streaming live on YouTube\, plus t
here will be drinks\, pizza and a chance to chat with the Brighton Cloud c
ommunity for those attending in person.\nIf you haven't already\, you shou
ld sign up to Silicon Brighton's Slack workspace for networking and news
on other tech related events in Brighton (we're all on there).
