Welcome to all our members, old and new! We are an awesome, friendly group who like to talk Python over pizza and beer in Brighton.
At July’s meetup we have Jason Verrall, a Senior Data Scientist from the Pensions Regulator, giving us a talk on ‘Measuring Impact on Climate Change’.
Jason is going to share how he estimated the greenhouse gas emissions from his company’s workforce commuting and working from home. This is to help TPR understand what progress they are making to get to net zero carbon emissions.
This will include a brief introduction to how emissions are measured, plus how Jason approached this modelling problem; some of the ethical & practical challenges; how the final model was put together and the results using a synthetic population of workers.
We will, of course, have pizzas, refreshments, and opportunities to chat throughout the evening, and it will be livestreamed if you are not able to make it.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
