Brighton Web Development Meetup – Getting started with Docker

When

Thursday 24th March
7:00pm - 8:30pm

Event Type

If you build for the web, whether just for a hobby or professionally, then the Brighton Web Development Meetup is designed for you.

This month they will be covering:

“Getting started with Docker (Creating an evergreen build)” – Paul Axon

Paul Axon has kindly agreed to present his talk on Docker and he will cover at a very high level what Docker Images/Containers are and why you might want to use them. He will also cover downloading and running Docker Images/Containers and interacting with them.

This presentation will also involve Paul working through a coding example of building a Docker Image that allows you to build an interact with an App that is built with an ancient (in internet years!) version of Node (6.9) and Angular CLI (1.0), without having to downgrade/rollback your development machine.

About the speaker:

Paul Axon has been a full stack .Net/JS Web Developer for 15 years. He is passionate about Test Driven Development, Clean Code and DevOps and when he is not coding, he plays the guitar.
