SUMMARY:Goals! How To Set Ones That Work For You
DESCRIPTION:We’ve all heard of SMART goals and other traditional goal-set
ting frameworks. They’re meant to be efficient ways to set and track you
 r goals leading to success.\n\nThese frameworks\, however\, don’t work f
or people with ADHD.\n\nIn this session\, we’re joined by Rachel and The
o\, founder of the neuroinclusive app Cammi\, to explore some of the reaso
ns these goal-setting frameworks don’t work\, and what we might be able
to do instead.\n\nWe'll talk about cycles of negative appraisal that can s
quander our ambitions as neurodivergent folks\, and what we can do to brea
k free of them using elements of two theories: self-determination and sel
f-continuity.\n\nFinally\, we’ll talk about dreams! Big\, ambitious drea
ms that seem completely unreachable\, and the strategies we can use to sta
rt working towards them.\nYou'll take away:\n\n Ways to set motivating d
reams\, not goals\n Ways to work towards your dreams in small achievable
steps\n\nAbout Cammi\nCammi is a neuroinclusive app designed and tested f
or people with ADHD\, created by our Power Hour hosts Rachel and Theo. It
helps users gain confidence in working toward their dreams by setting and
working toward small and achievable goals\, whilst catering for their uniq
ue needs.\n\nRachel is a queer and neurodivergent person with a hidden dis
ability. She founded Cammi to help people with ADHD who might not have acc
ess to coaching. She wants to use her skills and knowledge to help people
grow to their full potential. She has worked in tech for most of her life
and has recently left full-time employment to focus on Cammi.\n\nTheo is a
queer and neurodivergent educational researcher and expert in universal d
esign for learning. She has always been interested in accessibility and in
clusivity and loves working on Cammi as she believes that it can help make
the world more welcoming and break some of the barriers faced by people w
ith ADHD.\nWhat's the format of the event?\nThe event will last for 1 hour
  and 15 minutes\, with rough timings as follows:\n\n 10 mins – Welcome
 &amp\; Settling In\n 20 mins – Presentation\n 30 mins – Discussion\n
