About the Panel 

Facilitated by Sam Thomas 

Sam is a multifaceted entrepreneur with a decade of experience. He firmly believes that with determination, anything is achievable. He is passionate about helping businesses connect through the power of storytelling.

In 2021, Sam launched the Different Hats Podcast, providing a platform for peers to share their life stories and inspire others. His mission is to combat the stigma surrounding mental health and help reduce the suicide rate in the UK by redefining what success looks like.

Bud Johnston 

Bud is a self-starter and visionary leader with a passion for innovation and inclusive organisational practices. He champions how organisations can be powerful forces for positive change. Through co-founding grassroots community organisations, he creates positive spaces for marginalised communities. Bud prioritises fostering healthy cultures within the various communities he serves and operates.

He learned the values of teamwork, leadership, and culture early in his career. While playing professional Basketball overseas, he gained valuable insights into successful teams. Over the last 15 years, he has worked in Media, Professional Sports, FMCG, Recruitment, Automotive, and the Charity/Third Sector.

Kat Mitchell

Kat is the Chief Revenue Officer, Board Member, and part of the founding team at MPB. Founded in 2011, MPB is the largest platform globally for photographers, videographers and content creators to buy, sell, and trade kit. MPB transforms the way visual storytellers access used photo and video equipment, offering unparalleled choice and trust, and recirculates over 570,000 items every year.

In her role as Chief Revenue officer, Kat is responsible for maximising growth and profitability across the organisation, leading cross-functional teams with a focus on data and pricing, aligning resources to drive revenue growth and customer retention.

Will Ogden

Will is the Chief Technology Officer at TrustedHouseSitters, a private equity backed marketplace connecting pet parents with responsible pet sitters worldwide. Having joined in 2014 as employee number one, he now leads a globally remote Engineering team presiding over a growing platform of 250k members (and many more pets!).

Will’s career in technology spans over two decades, with previous experience in building, selling and scaling B2B SaaS solutions to some of the world’s largest businesses, including Barclays, Standard Chartered, and Microsoft. He holds a degree in Computer Science and AI from the University of Sussex.

Neil Witten

Neil is a Brighton-based entrepreneur with a diverse track record in founding, scaling, failing, selling, bootstrapping, raising VC funds, and acquiring various businesses. His notable ventures include NooStar, co-founded with Graham Norton, which became the biggest global talent competition on the web. He also established Bite Studio, an award-winning creative digital agency known for creating fantastic user experiences for brands and inspiring startups.

Neil and his Co-Founder eventually sold the Bite Studio and decided to focus on StoryStream, a venture-backed software company that integrates real people and their stories into global marketing, boosting both advocacy and sales. Today, Neil advises founders to help them build the businesses they truly desire.
