ADHD – or, to give it its ‘official’ name, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – is often misunderstood, stigmatised, and misrepresented. And the name really doesn’t help matters.

As more and more people are getting an ADHD diagnosis in later life as a result of increased awareness and changes in the way diagnostic professionals assess for ADHD – particularly in women and people of colour – it prompts the question, is it time to rebrand ADHD?

In this roundtable, we’re joined by Kay Lock Kolp, wellbeing and high-performance coach, artist, podcaster and author to explore:

  • Is seeing ADHD as a ‘deficit’ helpful for anyone?
  • Do we really have a ‘deficit’ in attention, or do we sometimes have an overabundance of attention – we just struggle to control and focus where it goes?
  • Is ‘hyperactivity’ an accurate way to describe the emotional and energetic experience of ADHD?
  • Do those of us with ADHD feel like we’re being pathologised by the word ‘disorder’?

And, we want YOU to join the discussion too – whether you’re a neurodivergent business owner, advocate, or professional who has ADHD or works with those who do.

Together, let’s explore the challenges and strengths that comes with ADHD and discuss how this neurotype might be rebranded in order to reduce stigma, increase understanding and highlight its unique characteristics and contributions to the business world more accurately!
