 her fireside chat has landed! This time we welcome the multi-award-winning
  founder of Breakthrough Incentives\, Sue Nelson. Breakthrough Incentives 
 is a UK-based Research &amp\; Development (R&amp\;D) independent tax consu
 ltancy that specialises in supporting companies accessing R&amp\;D tax rel
 ief through the Small to Medium Size Enterprise (SME) scheme.\nSue used he
 r design and illustration skills to develop her own brand\, one that had d
 esign and her quirky humour at its heart. She set up the tax company with 
 vibrant branding to stand out from the generic\, blue competitors and deco
 rated it with her own art. Sue developed the specification for the IT infr
 astructure and commissioned the client contracts. The company began tradin
 g in April 2015 and went from a zero base to a £2.5m profitable turnover 
 company in just 5 years. In March 2020 Sue sold her company to the multina
 tional professional services company\, EY (Ernst &amp\; Young). Up to the 
 end of March\, the company had processed over 1\,000 R&amp\;D tax claims\,
  generating more than £60million for small tech businesses across the UK 
 –an average of nearly £50\,000 in cash or tax relief per claim. In the 
 process\, this led to the creation of around 150 new jobs.\nJoin us to hea
