SUMMARY:Two Decades of WordPress
DESCRIPTION:This month we've got Paul Bunkham joining us for a look back
on two decades of WordPress\, the well-known PHP CMS that currently powers
an estimated 43% of all websites (talk details further down).\nPaul is
a Code Mixologist at Automattic\, a major actor in the WordPress ecosyste
m\, and is currently in line for the coolest job title award. He's also co
-organiser of the Brighton WordPress Meetup\, a local meetup that's just
restarted after a few months' break so make sure to join the group and loo
k out for upcoming events.\nThis event will be hybrid\, meaning you can ei
ther join in person or online (please register for the meetup either way!)
:\nThe in-person event will take place at Runway East in Brighton from
6:30 pm. There will be food and drinks and you're welcome to come have a c
hat before the talk starts (around 7 pm).\nOnline participants can join t
he live stream from 7 pm.\nHere is how Paul introduces his talk:\n"We'll
look at the evolution of WordPress over the past 20 years\, as it's grown
from simple blogging software to a platform that runs around a third of t
he sites on the web. I'll be debunking some of the misconceptions about Wo
rdPress and cover its modern capabilities that make it suitable for runnin
g large web apps and sites\, including TechCrunch and The White House."\nW
e may or may not have Joe Biden patch in to talk about his experience with
WordPress – I'll keep you posted.\nHope to see you there and then!\nA b
ig thank you to Silicon Brighton and Runway East for their support.\nR
unway East has been fighting boring offices since 2014. Members get team b
liss guaranteed\, space to scale and Big Desk Energy.
