SUMMARY:WordPress Gems for Devs
DESCRIPTION:We're back at Freedom Works this month\, for a slightly differe
nt style of event.\nMilana Cap will be joining us remotely to showcase som
e of the latest WordPress features for developers.\nMilana is a WordPress
 engineer at XWP\, a freelance WordPress engineer at Toptal\, a WordPress D
ocumentation Team representative\, and the Documentation Focus lead for Wo
 rdPress 5.8 and co-lead for WordPress 5.9\, 6.0\, 6.1\, and 6.2 release cy
cles. She helped organise some of the largest WordPress conferences\, Word
Camp Europe 2018 and 2019\, focusing on Contributor Days.\nShe says that b
eing a single mum in Serbia\, she developed the superpower of fighting the
odds\, and is easily bribed with dark chocolate and a nice piece of bacon
.\nMilana describes the talk as:\n"The latest WordPress editions bring som
e real treats for developers. We'll look closer at the innovative HTML and
Interactivity APIs as the most significant game changers in today’s Wor
dPress development\, with a splash of WP-CLI magic for faster\, more fun d
evelopment.\nThere might be a surprise or two."\nSounds like fun eh?\nTher
e's more too\, as we have got a sponsor this month - Nimbus hosting. They
're a particularly apt sponsor after Tommy's recent talk about sustainabil
ity as they're committed to eco-friendly hosting\, running on renewable en
ergy. They are paying for the pizza and drinks for in-person attendees\, s
o many thanks to them.\nIt will be great to get together again after the s
ummer break. We hope to see you there!\nIn-person attendees: We'll be sta
rting the event at 18:00 with an opportunity for people to chat and get se
ttled.\nOnline attendees: The stream will start at 18:30\nSave the date!\n
The next meet-up will be a social on 1st October. Mark it on your calendar
 s. Maybe we'll venture somewhere different than the Caxton.
