The Brighton data forum is happy to announce that Gavin Hurley, Head of Data Science, EDF is joining us to talk about data science at EDF!

Gavin’s talk is “Detecting Financial Vulnerability with Unsupervised Machine Learning”.

We are in the middle of a cost of living crisis with rising prices and stretched household budgets. At EDF, we have consistently demonstrated our care and support for customers with any form of vulnerability. As part of that, this year we used data science to introduce a systematic method to analyse Smart meter Pay As You Go (PAYG) customers for signs of financial distress. This talk will outline the clustering approach we deployed, as well as cover how we collaborate with business users and the platform we develop and productionise models on.
