We’ve all heard of SMART goals and other traditional goal-setting frameworks. They’re meant to be efficient ways to set and track your goals leading to success.

These frameworks, however, don’t work for people with ADHD.

In this session, we’re joined by Rachel and Theo, founder of the neuroinclusive app Cammi, to explore some of the reasons these goal-setting frameworks don’t work, and what we might be able to do instead.

We’ll talk about cycles of negative appraisal that can squander our ambitions as neurodivergent folks, and what we can do to break free of them using elements of two theories: self-determination and self-continuity.

Finally, we’ll talk about dreams! Big, ambitious dreams that seem completely unreachable, and the strategies we can use to start working towards them.

You’ll take away:

  • Ways to set motivating dreams, not goals
  • Ways to work towards your dreams in small achievable steps

About Cammi

Cammi is a neuroinclusive app designed and tested for people with ADHD, created by our Power Hour hosts Rachel and Theo. It helps users gain confidence in working toward their dreams by setting and working toward small and achievable goals, whilst catering for their unique needs.

Rachel is a queer and neurodivergent person with a hidden disability. She founded Cammi to help people with ADHD who might not have access to coaching. She wants to use her skills and knowledge to help people grow to their full potential. She has worked in tech for most of her life and has recently left full-time employment to focus on Cammi.

Theo is a queer and neurodivergent educational researcher and expert in universal design for learning. She has always been interested in accessibility and inclusivity and loves working on Cammi as she believes that it can help make the world more welcoming and break some of the barriers faced by people with ADHD.
