Can generative AI enhance our creative process? What do we gain or lose when artificial intelligence informs our thinking? How can we use what already exists to bring our ideas to life? These are some of the questions we’ll be exploring in this hands-on craft workshop.

This session is open to all UXers, including those who identify as men.

What happens during the workshop

During the session, you will:

  • Compare and contrast emotion-informed creativity with generative AI
  • Put your crafting skills to the test by bringing your ideas to life
  • Use reclaimed materials to consider the environmental impact of the work we do
  • Consider the trade-offs of generative AI vs a human-only approach

After a chance to chat and grab some pizza, attendees will be split into two groups. Each group will be led through either a guided reflection or an activity involving generative AI. Everyone will then be invited to individually respond to their group’s activity, using the craft materials available at the venue. At the end of the session, the groups will be asked to respond to a series of questions, with the option to share your output and thoughts with the room if you would like to do so.

About the venue & accessibility information

The Circular Space is a community creative reuse and circular economy hub, based in Shoreham-by-Sea. Their aim is to bring joy to the community while looking after the planet. The hub includes a scrapstore, where donated waste is passed on at a low cost for creative reuse.

There is a ramp into the building, and everything is on ground level, including a toilet. There are double doors leading into the main activity room. During the session, you’ll be asked to explore the scrapstore, which consists of two rooms accessed by a narrow corridor. If you have accessibility needs, materials can be brought to the main activity room for you.
