Let’s kick off 2024 with a great talk on Drupal by our very own Andy Broomfield. Andy is a regular PHP Sussex attendant and a Senior Drupal Developer at the Brighton & Hove City Council, as well as one of Localgov Drupal‘s maintainers.
In their talk, Andy will take a deep dive into a major actor of the PHP ecosystem, covering the main features of Drupal and taking a closer look at the concept of distributions and how it is used by dozens of councils across the UK and Ireland (details further down).
This event will be hybrid, meaning you can either join in person or online (please register for the meetup either way!):
The in-person event will take place at Runway East in Brighton from 6:30 pm. There will be food and drinks and you’re welcome to come have a chat before the talk starts (around 7 pm).
Online participants can join the live stream from 7 pm.
Following a recent survey we’ve decided to start our events 30 minutes later so make sure you double check those times!
This is how Andy introduces their talk:
“We’ll take a look at Drupal, recognised as one of the most popular Content Management Systems (CMS). Delving into its capabilities, Drupal has to offer to developers, content designers and also to “Ambitious Site Builders.” A significant aspect of Drupal’s flexibility lies in its ability to build a wide variety of websites and application through the combination of contributed modules and custom code. This talk explores the concept of distributions—pre-selected modules and configurations that streamline the website development process, focusing specifically on LocalGov Drupal, a distribution co-developed and utilised by over 40 councils in the UK and Ireland.”
Hope to see you there and then!
